On the 15th October 1841 a notice of an intended sale of land was published in the Gazette; in this notice it was stated that the regulation of such sale would be those published in a previous notice dated the 1st May of the same year.

In that previous notice it was laid down that the allotments of land would be made pending Her Majesty's further pleasure.

The intended sale came off on the 14 December 1841- when the lot was knocked down to Mr F. W. Zabell, who on the 26th April 1842 transferred it to Mr B. M. Whichelo, who again on 24 October 1842 transferred it to Mr. P. Rowlands.

Sir Henry Pottinger would not recommend the Home Government to sanction the transaction on this lot, and accordingly Her Majesty's pleasure was withheld. In Lord Stanley's Despatch to Sir Henry Pottinger dated 3 January 1844 the following
